My Favourites From 2023 World Cinema

2023 is one of those years which can be described as a year “dedicated to reconstruction after Tsunami“, in terms of film business, content quality and even theatrical experiences. I was amazed by the surge of content production for OTT platforms in various languages and hoped that they would be more diverse and innovative. But like in 2022, many OTT platforms resorted to releasing content that doesn’t really push the envelope or offer any new experience to the viewers. I wanted to see how OTT platforms would redefine the content parameters and become more bolder in choosing new styles of scripts and stories. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

There were also many suicides and unwarranted clashes at the box office. There were many actors who wanted to explore different markets and languages, but the stories/ideas could not be the same and there were many issues to address on that front. Let’s talk more about the Pan India suicides some other time. Some films felt like they were dragging out the obvious just for the sake of it, and some others felt like the new-age directors and writers were lacking in inspiration. This list of 2023 is all about how these shows/films have given me an experience to remember. Just dive into it!! (None in the list are placed in any particular order)
