I should have known better, I do my best to avoid trailers and have no pre conceived notion about the film, which will allow me to see the movie with an open mind, which means I had no idea what I was in for with the god-awful lampoon, Mr. Joe B Carvalho. All I knew was it starred Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan, two actors who are known to choose good projects. Or at least average projects.
Mr. Joe B Carvalho is a different type of dullard attempt as it follows a stereotypical plot points of a struggling detective who wants to prove his mettle. In this journey he finds interconnected points-finds his childhood love-fall in trouble with an International Don. Will Joe crack the case forms the rest of the storyline in Pink Panther way.
Arshad Warsi is comically bad and you kind of feel pitty at some point in the movie. He really utters lines such as “Maa Bees Hazar Rupai, Mein Bada Detective Banunga”. Was he working for cash? Did he lose money?. Soha Ali Khan is irritating in the entire movie except for a debangg-ish introduction scene. Javed Jaffrey’s character is poorly written. Director tries to give some funny twist lines to his character but he fails. Vijay Raaz is fine. Geeta Basra & Karishma Kotak cameos are okay.
Coming to technicalities debutant director Samir Tewari starts his career with a messy film. Screenplay is bad and the narration is totally bumpy. Transition of the scenes is not properly handled. Music by Amartya Rahut is cacophonic except for Ringa Ringa Roses. Cinematography of the film is mediocre.

To say I disliked this movie would be an understatement and to say the first weekend of 2013 has delivered a contender for the worst movie of the year would be spot on. Comedies have gotten progressively worse recently, but this one takes it to new heights. Overall, A Shock “Circuit” attempt!!
