A.R.Rahman’s Ekk Deewana Tha (2012) Music Review
First let me wish GOD of Music, Mozart of Madras AR Rahman a very HAPPY birthday. Can’t imagine my LIFE without your mesmerizing Music sir Love You 🙂 🙂
Ekk Deewana Tha is a movie directed by Gautham Menon which itself a remake version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya (2009) starring Simbu and Trisha Krishnan in lead.
Audio starts off with Kya Hai Mohabbat which is simple and classy song, sung by A.R.Rahman himself. That’s what makes this song special. Rahman has given his best. Lyrically Javed saab was fine. It’s a track that will be liked after listening to the audio couple of times.
Dost Hai Hum Toh its instant version of Kanukkal Kannai . I seriously missed the addictive feel of original song in Hindi version. But still the way Naresh Iyer sung the song and the Hip-Hop mix make this track catchy in a devised way. You gonna like it in the first instance.
Aromale (My Beloved) Original version of this song was one of my favorite tracks by Rahman. The song has no beats at all. The tune is very simple and Alphonso Joseph’s style of rendition is so fresh. I still feel they should have continued the same Malayalam version in Bollywood.
Hosanna I still hum it whenever it’s visual comes on television. It’s still as fresh as the original Hosanna nothing changed. Wonderful song with wonderful lyrics. The guitar tunes in the middle are just magical. Rahman composes this song with very few instruments yet elevates the mood.
Phoolon Jaisi is Omanna Penne in Tamil Version. Clinton Cerejo is behind the mike. It’s the song that will elevate the mood of the situation and carries the tender romantic feel. An Amazing track, don’t Miss it.
Sharminda Hoon (Mannipaya In tamil) except the lyrics the songs works fine. I think they just taken the same lyrics for the Hindi version that’s what killed the feel some times in between. But still it has a perfect mix of instruments and genuinely good music to sing-a-long.
Sunlo Zara (Anbil Avanin Tamil )Rashid is perfect, Shreya sings a bit odd. The Best rendition of the album. This is probably the climax song in the film. Truly heart touching with excellent music composition.
Zohra Jabeen Javed Ali sung this song fine. But can’t match up the beauty of Karthik. Rahman composed this song with simple arrangement of orchestral and keyboard works.
Broken Promises , Moments In Kerala by Prabhakar, Jessi’s Land and Jessi Driving me Crazy are the tracks from Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa collectors series. A must listen Instrumentals and Bits.
Overall, Ekk Deewana tha fail to reach the standards of the original Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa. But Ekk Deewana Tha is still sparkling and sets the feel that I can’t wait any longer to watch in the theatres.
My picks are Dost Hai Hum Toh, Hosanna, Phoolon Jaisi and Sharminda Hoon.
