James Watkins’s The Woman in Black (2012) Movie Review

The Woman in Black is all about a Young widower lawyer Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe), he leaves to remote area to get the mansion papers of deceased owner. Checking client’s isolated house Kipps finds out some HORRIFYING secrets and finds glimpses of a mysterious woman dressed only in BLACK. Arthur digs deeper into the house’s part, and finds a Black Woman seeking revenge by murdering all of the townspeople’s children. Will he be the Victim? Will he successfully complete the work? Forms the rest of the story-line… Daniel Radcliffe does a decent job as Kipps, his performance is one of the major positives in the movies. Ciaran Hinds and Janet McTeer were good and rest of the cast was adequate. I really had decent hopes on the movies after seeing the theatrical trailer of the movie. Every single moment where director tries scaring us was predictable, narration of the flick was running at crawling pace. James Watkin’s Direction is good in parts, but he fails in the narrative part. Screenplay of the movie decent at the start, As the secret of the spooky sounds is revealed in the interval. Movie runs in predictable and dragging mode. Tim Maurice Cinematography is dark and effective. Editing is could have been crispier. Music supported the scenes. To all the Daniel Radcliffe fans, because Harry acted in the movie it doesn’t mean it’s always going to be ROCKING everytime. On The Whole, The Woman in black is a badly written, Directed and Narrated flick. Skip it in THEATRES.
