After Hattrick flops (Dongala Mutta, Veera and Nippu), Raviteja coming forward with a minimum guarantee movie “DARUVU”. Daruvu is a socio-fantasy film with loads of commercial elements.
Story: Bullet Raja (Ravi Teja)is a jovial guy and believes in himself. Whatever he does, he wanted that to be known to everyone, this is his policy. Swetha(Tapsee Pannu) is a traditional dancer. Bullet Raja falls in love with Swetha. Due to one incident Bullet Raja dies and goes to Yamalokam where he comes to know that Chitragupta (MS) revenge over Yamadharmaraja( Prabhu) has lead to his death. He conveys it to Yama and convince Yama to resend him back onto earth, In the meantime his body funeral on earth is done. How will Bullet get the justice? Will he marry Swetha in the end? Forms rest of the story line…
Performances: Raviteja did the role that suits him the best. He performed really well in a character that is tailor-made for him. His dialogue delivery was almost similar in all most all situations. But he was the one who took whole movie on his shoulders. Tapsee is competent as female lead. Prabhu, Sathyanarayana and Ms Narayana were fine in their roles. Bhramanandam as Vidya Balan was not so effective. Vennela Kishore was alright in his limited character. Jayasudha as mother of Home Minister did a fab job. Shayaji Shinde, Avinash, Raghu Babu were adequate in their roles. Rest of the cast was supportive.
Technical Details: The story of the movie runs on the same lines of “Yamudiki Mogudu” (1988) with slight changes. The story and the basic plot have lot of commercial potentiality. But the execution of the film could not translate that potentiality onto the screen. Better Screenplay should have helped movie on screen. Director Siva work is good in parts. He could not maintain the tightness in his narration. But he was successful in taking sentimental scenes. Unnecessary scenes were added in the second half. Music by Vijay Anthony is an asset. Background music is effective. ‘Rajula Maharajula and Usumalarasey” are the songs best in term of picturization. Cinematography (Vetrivel) is first rate. Visual effects were not up to the mark. Dialogues in the film are well written. Fights are fair. Editing (Gautham Babu) is could have been crispier. Artwork is fine. Production values by Burugupalli Sivaramakrishna are grand.
Survi Verdict: First half of the film is adequate. Second half is slow with decent sentimental scene and Climax episodes. Ravi Teja’s typical mannerisms and casual punch-liners do make us like his character. Positives of Daruvu are Raviteja, Mass entertainment, Music and Cinematography. On the flip side Thin story line, Predictable Narration and regular drags. On a whole, Daruvu makes an average fare.
Survi Review: 2.5/5 (Pretty Average Fare)
Bottom-Line: Performance Daruvu, Script wise Karuvu!!
