World famous astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has said that the existence of aliens is perfectly rational to his mathematical brain, but that it would be best if we never met them because the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans. As in the real world, Hawking’s warning goes unheeded in director Peter Berg board game turned action movie Battleship. The new featurette reveals that the aliens that come to take over our planet were invited by scientists beaming signals at Goldilocks planets similar to the Earth.

Liam Neeson as Admiral given some dignified performance. Taylor Kitch performance and characterization are not upto the mark. Brooklyn Decker looked splendid on screen. But she is not as Hot as Megan in Transformers. Alexander Skarsgard is adequate. Rihanna provided some convincing stuff, but her acting skills were terrible. Rest of the cast provided average support.

Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber’s story line is wafer thin. Screenplay wise movie was not perfectly crafted. Narration of the film is haphazard. The director (Peter Berg) succeeds in opening the film in an interesting way by setting the right spirit and mood, but falters dreadfully as the movie builds up. Script has potencial but director failed to handle it. Steve Jablonsky’s background score is thumping. Tobias A. Schliessler’s cinematography is good. Dialogues are mediocre except for some decent one-liners. Editing is fine. 2hours runtime makes audience very exhaustive. If you saw Transformers you know how good special Vfx can be, and this movie is on the same level. there’s nothing fresh but also there’s nothing that looks bad. Everything is made pretty damn good. The visual effects were just eye watering experience for sci fi fans. Production values were grand.

Positives of Battleship are CGI, Bgm score and Action episodes. On the flipside its Story, Screenplay,Slow Narration and Performances. If you take Battleship for what it is, it’s mildly entertaining. If you expect the movie to be something it’s not, you will be sorely disappointed.

Survi Review: 2.5/5 (1.5 more for its Visual Effects)
