Karan Johar’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, directed by Shakun Batra on debut, released today. The film has a fresh star cast (Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor) and good catchy music as it’s major USP’s. It’s the second film from the Dharma Productions banner to release in as many weeks – Agneepath and opened to historic numbers. Can Ek Main Aur Ek Tu repeat the magic? Will it be back to back hits for Dharma? Let check out the review for answers..

Rahul Kapoor, an architect (Imran Khan) and Raina Braganza, a hairstylist (Kareena Kapoor) are strangers to each other and jobless, as they bump each other on Christmas occasion, and have too much drinks. But the next morning hell breaks loose when they discover that Rahul is married to Raina. Does their marriage end or do they continue as man and wife? What happens then? forms the rest of the story-line…

After successful Meri Brother ki Dulhan, Imran Khan comes back with a bang. He portrays his role as Rahul Kapoor perfectly. Kareena Kapoor was gorgeous and pretty and a powerhouse entertainer this time. Kareena has lived in the role. Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah were apt in their roles. Nikhil Kapoor, Zenobia Shroff provided the necessary support. Remaining characters were good and supported well.

David MacDonald’ Cinematography is very good. Dialogues are honest. Editing by Aasif Ali Shaik is neat. Amit Trivedi needs no introduction. He did full justice to his job. Especially Loved Title Track, Aunty Ji and Kar chalna shuru tu (Lyrically good too..). The Storyline is very thin and Screenplay reminds us of What Happens in Vegas and even parts of Bommarilu. Narration would have far better if they could have worked a bit more on script. Debutant director Shakun Batra shown maturity in her direction with her first movie itself. Richness and quality are the catch words for this film’s production.

Ek Main Aur Ek Tu first half of the film is Okay. Second half is fine. Plus Points of the movie are Performances, Music and Technical Stuff. On the flip side Lags at Pre and Post interval episodes, Thin Storyline and the slow screenplay. On a whole, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is a well-intended Rom – Com that fails to grab your full attention.

Survi Review: 2.75/5 (0.25 more for Kareena and Songs)
