Director Abbas Mustan new film Players is a remake of The Italian Job. Let’s check how the Indian version of Italian Job works at Indian Box Office.  A team of Experts gathered by Mascarenhas (Abhishek) to execute a daring gold heist in Russia.Where Ronnie (Bobby) A Magician, Sunny Mehra (Omi) a makeup artist, Bilal Basheer (Sikander Kher) a explosion expert, Rhea (Bips) a seductress and Auto mobile specialist and last but not the least Nainna (Sonam Kapoor) a hacker.  Will they successfully steal the gold? Did their plan work is the remaining story. Performances were one of the major drawbacks of Players. Abhishek, Sonam Kapoor and Bobby Deol didn’t suit their respective characters.

Abhishek Bachan is Adequate as team lead. Bipasa Basu did a fine job as Seductress and automobile specialist. Bobby Deol again failed to make an impression. Omi Vaidya was okay with his role. Vinod khanna did justice to his character. Sonam kapoor sizzled but failed to make an impact with the character. Remaining characters were just below average.

I still doubt whether it’s directed by the same persons who directed Racy Race, Thriller Gupt, Bitter Baazigar, Soldier. This time they failed to narrate the story. But succeed in showing Players in stylish way. Screenplay is the biggest drawback in the flick. The major thrills were half baked and opaque. The Betrayal episodes missed the feel.  Narration failed to create a effect on audience they just loose the interest after post intermission. Songs scored by Pritam Chakraborty are decent. Songs are also canned adequately well.  Dialogues are just Ok. Sandeep Shirodkar background music is decent in parts. Cinematography is the biggest asset of the movie. Editing could have been crispier. Allan Amin stunts are good. Dialogues lack the Kick. Production values were fab.

Survi Verdict:

First half of the film is interesting. Second half has uninteresting elements and even narration is unconvincing. It is a crime thriller narrated with dark humor. On a whole, Don’t get tempted by the title. “Play Safe” avoid watching this flick 🙂
