Thaman’s Dookudu (2011) Audio Review

1. Nee Dookudu
Singers:- Shankar Mahadevan
Lyricist: Vishwa

Obviously this is the title track. True to his flavor, the song has been sung very well by Shanker Mahadevan and Team has come up with some fast beats with a stress on the guitar that touches the pulse of the youth in a big way. Despite the fast and peppy pace, Vishwa lyrics deserve a special applause for its trendy words. The instrumental and the chorus rocks the number and lends to the cool quotient of the entire album.

2. Guruvaram
Singers:- Rahul Nambiyar
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

This is a soft number which just goes on as if we are sailing on a pleasant Sea. Rahul Nambiyar has dominated with his voice and the chorus has got a very subtle presence, there is a tune that reminds one of Yuvan Shanker Raja but Thaman has brought in variety in this. The melody aspect has been quite evident and yet again Rama Jogayya Sastry has deftly explained the innocence of love and the sensitivity with his articulate words. This song is more appealing to the classy audience.

3. Chulbuli Chulbuli
Singers:- Karthik,Rita
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

The Sounds and even looks similar to Rajnikanth’s Khilimanjaro from Robo. This sounds a little flat, even with the saving grace of Karthik and Rita’s vocals. Everything sounds a little repetitive here. No freshness whatsoever.

4. Poovai Poovai
Singers:- Ramya.N.S,Navin Madhav
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

Here comes the item number. The song starts with Ramya’s husky voice, and you wonder what’s next. Once the beats follow and the ever-popular Navin’s voice is heard, rest assured, it’s a youthful and peppy number. Then chorus soft and sensuous voice follows and the club beats continues, with the two young singers trying to compete with each other. Its one of the best songs of the album.

5.Dethadi Dethadi
Singers:- Ranjith,Divya
Lyricist: Bhaskar Bhatla

The chorus, the rising of the tempo and the danceable beats make this song the Pick of the Album. Vocals by Ranjith stand out while Divya sounds stylish and adds a nice contrast to the rustic feel. It’s peppy, lively and pacy helped by Bhasker Batla’s simple lyrics ending with a Folkish finish.

6.Adara Adara
Singers:- Karthik,Ramajogayya Shastry,Vardhini,Ranina Reddy,Megha
Lyricist: Rama Jogayya Sastry

Its a celebration number, recalls us many bits and pieces of Thaman‘s previous works. It’s a short and fast number, with Karthik rendering in his typical style. Ramajogayya sastry and female team (Vardhini,Ranina Reddy,Megha) together round off the last song in the album with a celebratory feel.

Survi Verdict:

Thaman’s Dookudu a decent compilation, with some catchy numbers and a variety to look forward to. Red hot couple Mahesh Babu and Samantha in the star-cast is attractive enough to draw the crowds, and Thaman’s tunes are icing on the cake. The use of guitars, trumpet and drums, the perfect use of chorus and some superb vocals make this album one that you can listen to again and again. A good album-Thaman doesn’t disappoint. My Picks are Poovai Poovai, Dethadi Dethadi, Nee Dookudu.
