Survi Review: 2/5

Ready is an Bollywood comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee. It stars Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles, who are paring for the second time after London Dreams.

The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Mahesh Manjrekar in supporting roles. The film is a remake of the 2008 Telugu film Ready directed by Sreenu Vaitla and starring Ram and Genelia.

The film is about a spoil brat called Prem (Salman)and his annoyingly happy family. Prem’s daddy, Rajveer Kapoor (Mahesh Manjrekar) has a very weak memory and constantly forgets to describe anything he can’t re-collect. Prem also has two uncles and aunts who live together with them. However, the film becomes completely messed up when a girl on the run, Sanjana (Asin) lands up at the Kapoor residence, in the guise of Prem’s prospective bride. Predictably, she wins everyone’s hearts with her clichéd tactics (morning bhajans, respect for elders, and disrespect for Prem etc).

Salman Khan, with a gym-aided body, gives an excellent performance as the action hero and does it with commendable ease. He takes the entire film on his brave and able shoulders. Asin is scintillating.

There are fights, which are unrealistic with full of string work and are not even necessary for this kind of movie, they are only there for the hero [it is his home production]. The music of the film tops the charts with Dhika Chika and character dheela hai. This acts as the biggest advantage for the film. Also dhinka chika plays in the background and each time it plays you can hear some whistles.Pritam has indeed done a great job.

Paresh Rawal has given a sterling performance. He has the capacity to make you laugh your guts out without actually tickling your ribs.  Akhilendra Mishra and Sharat Saxena have given mature performances as faction leaders. Mahesh Manjrekar was apt to his role. All other actors in supporting roles are adequate in their respective roles.

The  guest appearances made by Sanjay dutt,Arbaz Khan,Ajay Devgan,Chunkey Pandey,Kangana and Zarine Khan were well timed.

The production values are good, and the budget shows. Most settings are bound to be familiar to the Telugu audiences.

*Salman Khan

*First Half

*Chunky Pandey Role

*Lead Pair Chemistry

Survi Verdict:

The first half pretty much goes by without any interesting story, but Aneez Bazmee manages to keep the proceedings from getting boring. The second half is the when the movie gains momentum, but not sufficent to make it up for the disasterous first half.. However, Ready is likely to be a waste of time for a non-Salman-worshipper. For the believers, there’s enough of him in it, and more. And they’re probably not ones who bother about such things as a socially-acceptable wardrobe, anyway.
